A very new, fresh and vital Barbiere di Siviglia between the fidelity to Rossini and the rock moves

The Barbiere di Siviglia, masterpiece of Gioachino Rossini  set up in a new production  of  the LTL Opera Studio project by Teatro Goldoni, premiered on 6 and 7 February 2015 in Livorno, then to Teatro del Giglio of Lucca  and Teatro Verdi of Pisa (everywhere  with great success of critics and audience).
It was realized a very new, fresh and vital ‘Barber’ thanks to the stage and the interpretative setting  of  the two artistic leaders  of this new production: the conductor  Nicola Paszkowski and the director Alessio Pizzech. In fact, they aimed to return the surreal and unconventional dimension  of the infallible musical dramaturgy of Barber. An elegant scenic structure conceived by a great set designer like Pier Paolo Bisleri : an ingenious scenic box, authentic ‘workshop’ of wonders, where Pizzech implements a generational clash between the vitality and resourcefulness of the younger characters – the Barber Figaro and the ’amorous’ couple, Rosina and Almaviva – and the old, backward, obtuse class of the ancien régime represented  by doctor Bartolo, that will be eventually crushed by an infernal machine.
“I wanted to give a contemporary reading of this masterpiece – says the director Pizzech –to return to the story its strength and verve; a specific, rhythmic and poetic play  till to become a sublime musical score between stage and music, a smile that arise from  wonder”.
